Richard Nickel's Chicago: Photographs of a Lost City (Signed First Edition).

Chicago, IL: Cityfiles Press Publishers, 2006. First edition. Oblong hardcover. 192 pages. A posthumously released collection of black and white photographs by Nickel who dedicated his life to the photographing and preserving of the architectural wonders of Chicago and the works of Louis Sullivan. Nickel studied at the Institute of Design and tragically died when part of the decaying Chicago Stock Exchange (a Sullivan and Adler project) collapsed on him in 1972. A fine copy in a very near fine dust jacket. Signed and inscribed by Cahan and Williams on the title page: "To Joe who keeps the I D flame alive. Richard Cahan and Michael Williams." The recipient was photographer Joseph Sterling who studied at the Institute of Design in Chicago under Harry Callahan, Aaron Siskind and Frederick Sommer. A nice association copy.
