New York: Farrar Straus and Giroux, 1930. First edition. Hardcover. A powerful novel told entirely in woodcuts. While not as well known as Lynd Ward or Franz Masereel, Nuckel was certainly a very talented artist and storyteller. A very good copy in illustrated boards with a small spot to the rear board, slight sunning to the spine, some faint foxing to the top edge of the pages and an attractive bookplate to the front pastedown. No dust jacket. Despite the minor flaws a very nice copy.
