New York: Random House, 1940. First edition. Hardcover. First printing. The first book in the Snopes Trilogy which included "The Town" and "The Mansion." All three were set in his fictional Yoknapatawpha County. A tight very good copy with some minor wear and a former owner signature to the front free endpaper in an about fair later issue dust jacket that is split at the spine with a large chunk missing from the top of the spine and some other wear.
